Aristides Instruments
The revolutionary Aristides guitars are made with dedication by carefully selected and experienced builders in our workshop based in Amsterdam. The building process of our instruments is a flawless combination of conventional working methods and the advanced technology used to create Arium.
Handmade Instruments
The process begins with applying layers of special materials done by a fully-trained guitar builder to protect the Arium. When every layer has the correct thickness the unique tonematerial Arium is added according to a unique and licensed method only known by Aristides and his master builders. After a refined surface treatment it getting prepared for the next steps in which we carefully apply the lacquer and install high-quality hardware and electronics.
Finishes
Our guitars are not only eye catchers due to their elegant shape. The use of special finishes conduces to its striking appearance. Both standard finishes, aluminum and matt black, have a special feel which enhances the comfort and playability.
The guitars with the aluminum finish are sprayed according to the latest technologies. Applying the laquer of aluminum on the body is a procedure which, unlike older aluminum-neck guitars, ensures a warm feel to the neck and will not affect the unprecedented resonance.
Hardware & Electronics
With carefully picked high-quality hardware and electronics by Seymour Duncan, Sperzel, ABM and Wilkinson we are making optimal use of the Arium properties.
Quality Control
Aristides Poort and the experienced Aristides builders are a guarantee for the quality of our instruments. All our guitars undergo a strict quality control to meet the high standard of Aristides Poort. All stages will be documented and if all requirements are achieved, it will leave the factory after the approval of Poort himself. Only then another great instruments is ready to leave our factory.
What makes these guitars so special?
Innovative design by Bouwmeester van Rens, unique materials and, above all, exceptional tone are the qualities that define this truly great guitar.
Here are a few unique features:
- Infinite sustain
- Extraordinary resonance
- Perfect playability
- Service with personal attention
AriumArium is developed by Dutch engineer and genius in acoustic science Aristides Poort. The tonematerial is extremely hard and its unique cell structure is responsible for the unprecedented quality of sustain and resonance.
Mission
In 1995, Aristides Poort, working in collaboration with Technical University Delft started to work on a unique mission: to develop a material with perfect acoustic properties. The main emphasis was on resonance and sustain.
Research
The mission started out with research into the material that has been used for instrument building since time immemorial: wood. Studies of different types of top quality wood led to a technical study of cell structures and the mutual differences between them. By answering the question, ?What happens to a sound wave in a material at cell level?? it was subsequently possible to design the ideal cell structure.
It soon became clear that, if this material could be developed, it would have acoustic properties that no one would have thought possible before. The material would have the kind of resonance that even the best piece of wood in the world could only deliver in an instrument maker?s wildest dreams.
Result
Fifteen years of research led to a tonematerial with amazing acoustic features. The possibility to build an one-piece construction combined with the unique cell-structure of the material resulted in a revolutionary property: the sound waves could resonate three dimensional without any disruption throughout the whole instrument.
The mission was accomplished and Arium is the result.
